2011 AYFCL - RIT CHEER CHAMPIONS
WJW-WJT- Welcome to 2012!
As we break the huddle on another great season of Webster Jr. Warriors/Jr. Titans Football and Cheer, it is important to remember that Webster Football and Cheer Start Here! Since our beginning in 1994, we have evolved into one of the premier youth football and cheer programs in the area with core beliefs centered around developing our youth participants into great young men and women who believe in true sportsmanship, respect for others, supporting their team and having FUN.
The Board of Directors and coaching staffs are looking forward to getting back on the field almost as much as the kids. Planning for this year literally began the week after the 2011 Banquet (which was attended by almost 1,000 people in November). We have just concluded our Returning Family Online Registration and WJW-WJT is off to a fast start with over 220 returning football players and cheerleaders already registered for 2012. Some time in mid-February, we will be opening up online registration to new families (keep watching the website for details). In April, we will once again have our Parents Night scheduled for you to meet with and speak to the board and coaches, hear more specific information on the upcoming season and ask any questions that you may have. And most importantly, the season kicks off on July 30, 2012 with our first practice sessions! It will be here before we all know it!!
As many of you know, AYFCL (The American Youth Football & Cheer League) has changed the ages & weight requirements for our various participation levels in 2012. This will certainly require our program to make some adjustments but the core AYFCL beliefs have not changed. These beliefs include not only to teach the fundamentals, but also to provide an opportunity for children to enjoy all aspects of football and cheerleading. The main emphasis continues to be participation. Every eligible participant will play in every game, including regular season, playoff, championship, and exhibition games.
At WJW-WJT, our program also strives to achieve the following key goals:
-
Are we teaching the core fundamentals of the sport to each and every participant?
-
Are we promoting safety and safe play every day?
-
Are our participants having FUN each and every day?
-
Do our participants want to come back and participate again next year?
-
Does everyone in our organization, including our participating families, show respect and sportsmanship to all other participants, coaches, referees, family members and volunteers both from Webster as well as the other programs that we match up against?
If we all achieve these key goals, our program will continue to be a success!
Speaking of making our program a success, we are always looking for ways to become even better as an organization and that process starts with YOU. Currently, we have a few Board positions and volunteer openings available. Many hands make light work. Please consider getting more involved with the program. Set a great example for your kids and get into the game! It’s tough to complain…..if you’re not in the game!
