As we prepare for another exciting season of Webster Jr. Warriors/Jr. Titans Football and Cheer, it is important to keep in mind that our slogan, Webster Football and Cheer Begin Here, isn’t just words…the fundamentals and passion for the respective sports truly do begin in our program and last a lifetime. WJW-WJT has, over time, evolved into one of the most highly regarded youth football and cheer programs in the area. We take great pride in our core beliefs, centering around the development of the boys and girls that are part of the program, fostering sportsmanship, respect, support, and, perhaps most importantly, FUN!
The WJW-WJT Board of Directors, Coordinators, and coaching staffs are eagerly anticipating another great season and are currently hard at work to ensure that your child has the most satisfying and rewarding experience possible during the 2013 season. The work to ensure that this happens began immediately following the 2012 Banquet in November (which was another incredible event). We have just completed our Returning Family Online Registration and Returning Family Night and we are off to a fast start with all squads quickly filling up. On February 22nd we will be opening up our registration system to new families that are looking to join the program. We will, once again, hold our Parents Night in April to give everyone the opportunity to meet this year’s Board and Coaches, hear more specifics regarding the league and organization, and ask any questions that you may have. The 2013 season will be kicking off on August 5 for the first practices, and the first games will be played the weekend of August 29th. It sounds far off now…but will be here before we know it!!
The core AYFCL (American Youth Football and Cheer League) beliefs have not changed. These beliefs include not only to teach the fundamentals, but also to provide an opportunity for children to enjoy all aspects of football and cheerleading. The main emphasis continues to be participation. Every eligible participant will play in every game, including regular season, playoff, championship, and exhibition games. This is the cornerstone of our organization’s philosophy as well, and plays a huge role in every decision that is made.
At WJW-WJT, our program also strives to achieve the following key goals:
Are we teaching the core fundamentals of the sport to each and every participant?
Are we promoting safety and safe play every day?
Are our participants having FUN each and every day?
Do our participants want to come back and participate again next year?
Does everyone within our organization, including our participating families, show respect and sportsmanship to all other participants, coaches, referees, family members and volunteers both from Webster as well as from the other programs that we match up against?
If we all achieve these key goals, our program will continue to be a success!
Speaking of making our program a success, we are always looking for ways to become even better as an organization and that process starts with YOU. Currently, we have a few Board and Coordinator positions, as well as volunteer openings available. Many hands make light work. Please consider getting more involved with the program. Set a great example for your kids and get into the game! It’s tough to complain…..if you’re not in the game!
I look forward to working with each and every one of you, and to watching your child thrive on the field, and beyond. Thank you for your continued participation and have a great season in 2013!
